When does the next Home Health Aide (HHA) Training class begin?

We offer HHA training courses frequently in our BROOKLYN location and BRONX locations.  If you are interested in attending one of our information sessions for these class please complete an online inquiry form.  Please note that due to the volume of inquiries, we cannot reply to everyone’s online inquiry.


How much does the HHA Training course cost?

The HHA Training cost is free of charge. However, there will be a $50 materials fee. Best Choice is a participant in a training grant from the UJA Federation of New York and the Weinberg Foundation, which partially funds our training program.

Students are only responsible for purchasing their uniforms. However, due to the high demand for our program, we select candidates who meet our requirements such as flexibility to work various shifts once employed both in the day and evening hours and every other weekend. Also, candidates must be reachable via telephone when called for assignments.


How long is the course?

The Best Choice HHA Training Course is 4 weeks long. Attendance is mandatory; students may not miss any days of class.


Do you offer courses in the evening?

No. The HHA Training Course is a full time day course (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).


What type of certificate will I receive upon completing the Best Choice HHA Training class?

Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a New York State Home Health Aide Certificate.1


Do you have job placement?

Best Choice is a home health care agency; it is our expectation that our graduates work for Best Choice. Our employees commit to a flexible work week with the understanding that job hours change with each patient depending on their medical needs.


What are the requirements to enroll in the course (i.e. GED or HS Diploma)?

There are no formal educational requirements. However, candidates must be at sixth grade reading level and have authorization to work in the United States of America for any employer; candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment physical including a drug screening and a criminal background check.


What are the steps in the enrollment process?

Step 1: Candidates are invited to complete the online inquiry form. We will review the submissions and contact those who qualify.

Step 2: If there is mutual interest on behalf of Best Choice and the candidate in moving forward with the enrollment process, the candidate will be selected for an individual interview. If the candidate is chosen to move forward with the enrollment process, they will move on to step 3.

Step 3: Candidates will undergo a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal background screening. If candidates pass each of these screens, the most suitable candidates will be selected for the class which can only accept 20 students per class with 2 stand-by students.
